September 2017 Newsletter
Next Meeting: Tuesday, September 12, 2017 @ the Eastern Nebraska 4H Center.
Following meeting: October 17, 2017
Program: Habitat Design and Construction Techniques. Norm Wise.
President’s Notes: Hey Gang. Summer 2017 is waning quickly so we are ready to start the fall round of CFDCC meetings.
First, let me remind you of the change in meeting place. The aquarium is under renovation so we must relocate for the time being. Read on for more details in Club Business.
At our last meeting we held the annual club family picnic and mini decoy contest. I want to thank everyone who contributed to the food buffet and helped with setup and cleanup.
The mini decoy contest and trade saw another successful event thanks to the members who contributed a mini decoy and our judges Al Thomas, Ray Richmond, and Lonnie Bernth. All the members and our guests enjoyed the event. Let’s do it again in 2018! Several members contributed items for the door prize drawing. Thanks Kay, Kirk, Dick, Norm and anyone I missed for your support.
Norm has agreed to kick off the fall meeting with a short program on habitat design and construction. We need your input to develop programs for the rest of the year. Please let us know if you have suggestions.
The 2018 calendars are here! A special thanks goes to Ron Pigg for heading the project and doing many hours of detail work. Thanks Ron!
See you at the meeting,
Welcome members and visitors
May family picnic recap.
Suggestions for short programs
Other business: 2018 mini decoy species list.
Meeting location. Due to the remodeling of the Aquarium, the Eastern Nebraska 4H Center has offered their space for the remainder of this year. You get to the center by entering the well marked drive to the west of the Aquarium drive. Follow the drive up the hill to the 4H Center. We will mark the directions to the meeting room.
Calendars are here! We have printed two 2018 calendars. Why two, you ask? If you recall our discussions, there were too many members who wanted their carvings featured in the calendar. So we had 2 made and printed. Each version has photos of 12 unique carvings by club members. This must be a popular project as we ordered over 200 calendars and have suggestions for the 2019 edition.
A few extras were ordered so members who did not order can get at least one. The club cost was $4.65 per calendar. We have rounded the cost to $5.00 and will use the 35 cent excess to buy refreshments in the near future. The calendars will be available at this meeting. A check or cash will be accepted when you pickup your order. Change will be limited, so please bring the correct amount for your order.
Show and Competition News: No competition results reported.
