November 2023 Newsletter...
COMING MEETING: Tuesday, November 14, 2023
at 7:00 PM.
Location: Schramm Education Center (SEC).
West entrance.
President’s Corner: How has your fall been going so far. With the exception of the time change, which seems to get harder with every passing year, it hasn’t been too bad. The weather so far has been unbelievable but unfortunately the downside is that it’s not really conducive to successful hunting. It’s a good thing that success isn’t only measured by what you harvest. Getting out in the field or in a blind, enjoying nature and the time spent with family or friends is what really counts.
If you happened to attend the October meeting hopefully you enjoyed the presentation by Paul Sartore. Paul has been collecting factory decoys for quite a few years and he had some nice looking decoys to show us. Unfortunately I was so intent on what he had to say that I failed to take any pictures. If anyone did happen to take any please let Norm or me know so that we can add them to the website. Also, if you have any ideas for other presentations please speak up. These can be new topics or we may even be able to build off of past presentations.
I was able to spend some time at the Mid-America Woodcarvers Fall Show. Our Club had a table set up and the carvings present received a lot of attention and positive comments. I personally talked to several people that were either carving or wanted to start and expressed interest in the Club. I have my fingers crossed that something might come of that. I want to thank Norm, Jim, Al and Ned for their help in set up and manning the table.
I know it seems like it’s early but we would like to have some discussions related to the 2025 calendar. As you know putting the calendar together is a major undertaking. I would like you all to give some thought to what we can do to make this process easier.
Remember, this is YOUR club. If there’s anything you would like to see added or changed please do not hesitate to let us know.
Again, I look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming meeting.
Happy Carving,
Kirk
